May’s kitchen project of the month
For our most recent project of the month, we have chosen Mr. and Mrs. Jackson’s kitchen in Horsforth, Leeds. The brief was broad, as all they knew is that they didn’t want the kitchen in its previous state, but apart from that, we had full creative control in terms of kitchen design! We worked alongside them to create the overall kitchen design and together thought up the dream space they had both hoped for.
What’s great about this kitchen design is the new layout, it’s a complete change which should improve their lifestyle with a new baby. For example, the kitchen was originally fitted by the unusual angled windows, and there was also a door where the window over the sink is. We ripped out the kitchen and added french doors, we also blocked up the back door in order to create the new window.
This open plan space means the family can all share the area, whilst keeping an eye on the little one in the garden.
To make the kitchen appear larger, we added a Velux roof window to provide extra light. Additionally, by fitting french doors into the back wall, we also provided a large light source and provided the family easy access in and out of the garden.
We loved the colour pallette of this design, although the colours are neutral, each part of the kitchen stands out due to the differences of each material. For example, for the worktop, we used a dark granite, for the walls we used split face tiles, and an MDF vinyl wrapped door with wood vinyl effect flooring – all of which work perfectly together and show the presence of detail throughout.
